Twenty years in, I still can't tell you which one I am.
Designer, creative director, engineer — I've been all of them, usually in the same week. Brand systems, interfaces, records, photographs. Different tools, same itch.
What gets me is the blank canvas.
That first quiet moment when nothing exists yet, and then the long unglamorous haul to something real. I've never gotten tired of it.
Chasing the creative dragon
I grew up in the US. These days I'm in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. I play music in plant medicine ceremonies here, and I record them — voices, rattles, rain on a tin roof, whatever the night decides to do. Some of the best things I've made started in a room at three in the morning with no plan at all.
